A GUIDE TO MILLENNIUM LEAGUE

Millennium League is an unlicensed team gala swimmers may be invited to. This means the swimmers work as a team in 25m and 50m individual and relay races to try and win the league. There are no finals or medals, instead if Larkfield SC wins the Millennium League (comprised of 3-4 galas throughout the year), the club wins a trophy.

Because this league is unlicensed, it means any times achieved here cannot count towards official rankings. This league aims to provide experience for newer swimmers and foster strong teamwork skills for all who participate.

Due to the nature of team galas, swimmers do not find out what they are swimming until they get there. Coaches assign a stroke they know the swimmer feels confident in and can do legally (to avoid disqualification on the night). Once the team sheet, it is sent for approval from other coaches to get their thoughts to ensure everyone is getting a fair chance.

In September we host a very special gala in this league, titled the Barbra Upton Memorial Cup gala. In honour of our late chairman Barbara Upton who served our club for over 40 years and was a founder of Millennium League who passed away in 2023. We remember and celebrate her life and the love she had for our club, competitive swimming and teamwork.
